My name is Kyle Harris and I've worked in corporate IT for roughly 25 years. I consider myself to be an Infrastructure/Security Engineer (I tend to shy away from workstation/desktop PC work since so many others can do that). I don't think you can architect systems correctly unless they are properly secured so I take security very seriously in all projects I undertake. During a period between jobs, I decided to take on some freelance IT projects. To my surprise, I found it to be some of the most rewarding work I've ever done. While you will see Linux and open source mentioned a great deal on this site (and even the domain name, depending on how you got here), I am equally well versed in Windows Server technology, including Active Directory, Exchange Server, and many other Microsoft technologies. In the mid 90s, I was a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) but I got burned out taking all the tests so I decided to move towards Linux and open source software. I found that many small to mid-sized companies can often find someone that can sufficiently muddle their way through the setup and maintenance of one or even a few Windows servers but Linux can be a bit tougher if you have little experience with it.
All companies are trying to stretch their IT budgets as far as they can. Often times, open source technology (and me) can assist your small to mid-sized business in that endeavor. I don't have the overhead that many larger firms have so my rates are very reasonable. I have been able to offer many companies many different technologies with no more investment than some used equipment from eBay and my time. Please contact me and perhaps I can do the same for you and make sure and visit my LinkedIn site at http://www.linkedin.com/in/kyleaharris to find out even more about me and what I might be able to do for you and your company. If you would like to find out more about the services I can offer, please contact me at email@example.com. UPDATE: I am currently not taking on new freelance work. Thank you!
